Epistemic Agency

Epistemic Agency (diffuse) – Interpreting “epistemic” to refer broadly to any manifestation of knowledge or understanding, and interpreting “agency” as the capacity to act. Epistemic Agency is typically used to refer to any deliberate effort to develop understanding. The construct has been the site of much debate, especially around who or what might properly be described as an “epistemic agent” (e.g., individuals? communities? artificial intelligence?).
